It’s always a real pleasure to work with friends, and as demonstrated in this video for Kyla La Grange, a fun set environment can produce beautiful results. Shooting in Frensham Ponds, with a small crew and tight budget, we set out to make a visually striking film for the track “set you free’. Friend and steadicam-operator, James ‘JT’ Thomas kindly offered his time and skill, helping to capture our movement throughout the location. Shooting on a combination of anamorphic xtal-express and a reversed element lens that I built for the shoot, we achieved two very different but complementary looks. A lot of smoke and available lighting here, augmented with a handheld soft box for a little beauty on Kyla and to fill in her dark contact lenses used throughout the shoot.
