Shooting alongside photographer / director Greg White for McLaren’s Solus GT performance race car. It was a rare opportunity to work with a prototype vehicle that is being produced in very limited numbers of only 25 total, globally. We approached this shoot with the aim to shoot with interactive lighting to simulate the sun and moon cycle that is seen throughout the CGI environments. Budget hadn’t allowed for a LED Volume shoot on this occasion, so we used a variety of panels and DMX controlled soft boxes to create a gradient light source that tonally shifted through blues, oranges and pinks. CGI backgrounds were added in post, utilising various plates and light passes to accurately simulate the lighting and colours used throughout the project. We attempted to shoot he body of the car in a way that reflected the desert landscapes, picking sweeping lines and curvature to photograph the car in as an abstract from, emerging from the desert environment.
